Terms of Service
Last updated 16 September 2026
These Terms govern your use of umunthu.art and purchases of digital artwork downloads from Umunthu Art (“we”, “us”). By browsing the site or completing a purchase, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What we sell
Umunthu Art sells digital downloads of contemporary Southern African artworks. We do not ship physical prints. After payment, you receive access to high-resolution files you may print yourself or through a print studio.
Each purchase unlocks library access for that artwork for 30 days, with up to 5 downloads per work. Available sizes and formats are shown in your library at download time.
Licence to use
When you buy a work, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download the files and print them for your own private use (home, office, or personal gift). You may not:
- Resell, redistribute, or share the digital files
- Use the work for commercial products, merchandising, advertising, or stock libraries without our written consent
- Claim authorship of the artwork or remove credits where they appear
- Circumvent download limits, access controls, or authentication
Copyright and all other intellectual property in the artworks remain with the artist and/or Umunthu Art, as applicable.
Accounts and access
Checkout requires a valid email address. After purchase you may open your library with a one-time link from the confirmation email, or by signing in with that same email (one-time code). Keep your email secure; anyone with access to it may request a sign-in code.
You are responsible for the devices and printers you use. We are not responsible for print quality from third-party services or your local setup.
Payment
Prices are shown in US dollars (and may be presented in your local currency at Checkout). Payment is processed by Stripe. By paying, you also agree to Stripe’s terms. Charges appear under the name associated with our Stripe account.
Refunds
Because the product is a digital download unlocked immediately after payment, all sales are generally final once library access is granted. If a file is defective, inaccessible due to a fault on our side, or you were charged in error, contact hello@umunthu.art within 14 days and we will help—repair, replacement access, or a refund where appropriate.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the site: no scraping that harms performance, no attempts to break security, and no unlawful use of the artworks or our systems. We may suspend access if we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.
Disclaimer
The site and downloads are provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (including lost profits or print costs) except where liability cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms for new purchases.
