Last updated 16 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Umunthu Art (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use umunthu.art. We aim to collect only what we need to run the shop and deliver your downloads.

Who we are

Umunthu Art operates this website and is the controller of personal data described here. Contact: hello@umunthu.art.

What we collect

  • Email address — required at checkout and used to sign you into your library
  • Purchase details — artworks bought, Stripe session identifiers, entitlement window, and download counts
  • Payment data — processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our servers
  • Technical and security data — basic logs (for example IP address, timestamps, error events) needed to operate and protect the service
  • Communications — emails you send us (for example refund or support requests)

We do not sell personal data. We do not use your email for marketing lists unless you separately ask us to.

How we use it

  • Process orders and grant library access
  • Send transactional email (purchase confirmation, sign-in codes, magic links)
  • Authenticate you and prevent abuse or fraud
  • Provide customer support and fix technical issues
  • Meet legal and accounting obligations

Who helps us

We use trusted processors to run the service, including:

  • Stripe — payments and Checkout
  • Amazon Web Services — hosting, authentication (Cognito), and file delivery
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Google Analytics — site usage measurement

These providers process data on our instructions and under their own privacy terms. Data may be processed in regions where those providers operate.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential storage for the shopping cart and authentication session so the site functions. We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device type). Google may set cookies or use similar identifiers for this. We do not run third-party advertising pixels on the storefront. See Google’s Privacy Policy for how Google processes data.

How long we keep data

Purchase and entitlement records are kept for as long as needed to provide access, handle support, and meet legal or accounting requirements. Authentication profiles tied to your email may remain while you have an account or outstanding entitlements. Support emails are kept as long as reasonably needed to resolve your request.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to certain uses. To exercise these rights, email hello@umunthu.art. We may need to verify your identity (usually via the purchase email).

Security

We use industry-standard measures (HTTPS, access controls, signed download URLs, and authenticated library access). No online service is perfectly secure; please protect your email inbox, which is the key to your library.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
